Vote Tomorrow.
An open letter to citizens of New York's 19th Congressional District.
Fellow Citizens, Voters, Friends,
The Primary Election has finally arrived. Tomorrow, September 12, voters across the state of New York will visit their polling places and make their voices heard. Many will cast their vote in order to bring our troops home. Many will vote for clean water and clean air. Many will vote for better public education, access to affordable health care, and an end to our dependence on foreign oil. I will certainly cast my vote for all those purposes and more.
As you know, I've been crisscrossing the 19th Congressional District for the past several months, knocking on doors, listening to people's concerns about the country, and telling them about my vision for the future. As I've said time and again, it's important that citizens know their representatives and that representatives know their citizens.
Tomorrow marks the day when voters of this district will select the Democrat to challenge incumbent Republican Sue Kelly in the November General Election. Sue Kelly has been a "Rubberstamp Republican" for George W. Bush's conservative agenda, blatantly ignoring the views of this moderate district. It's time the people of this district elect someone who truly represents their views.
In a district where Republicans still outnumber Democrats and independent voters comprise a huge portion of the electorate, we must choose someone who not only embraces progressive values, but who can also appeal to moderate voters and win in November.
Please make sure you vote tomorrow. Please also remind your friends, colleagues and family to vote. As Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said, "Give us the ballot and we will fill our legislative halls with men of good will." You have the ballot. You have the opportunity to elect men and women of good will and influence the future of our nation. Please visit your local polling place and vote tomorrow.
Respectfully,

Ben Shuldiner
Democratic Candidate for the United States Congress
